A general contractor course actually built for Portuguese speakers in Florida
If you landed here, you've already searched Google for "general contractor course" and noticed something: the internet is packed with English-only courses with dense materials, fast-talking American instructors and zero empathy for the reality of being a Brazilian immigrant building a career in Florida. You finish those courses more confused than when you started, and the Pearson VUE clock keeps ticking.
King Training Contractor School was built to solve exactly that. It's a Florida general contractor course created and taught by a licensed Brazilian instructor, in Portuguese from start to finish, with one objective: preparing you for the official exam and putting your active DBPR license in your hands. There are 3 exams: Business & Finance, Contract Administration and Project Management. The last two make up the technical part, which we call Trade Knowledge.
Here, no one pretends the exam is easy. Here, we teach you exactly how it works, what the traps are, how to organize the official books, how to use the index as a personal search engine, how to dominate the HP 10bII+ calculator, and how to walk into the Pearson VUE testing center with the confidence of someone who has already seen those questions before, because you actually have, in our mock exam lab.

What is the Florida General Contractor license, exactly?
The General Contractor license (officially Certified General Contractor, CGC) is the credential issued by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) that authorizes a professional or business to perform construction work in Florida , from single-family homes to commercial buildings of any height, hospitals, malls, schools and infrastructure. Without this license you can work as an employee on a jobsite, but you cannot sign contracts as the prime contractor, pull permits at the county, hire subcontractors in your own name, or legally invoice for work above US$2,500.
There are three statewide modalities (different scope):
- Certified General Contractor (CGC), no height or type limit. You can build anything, anywhere in Florida.
- Certified Building Contractor (CBC), limited to commercial and residential buildings up to 3 stories. Excellent for those focusing on multifamily residential and light commercial.
- Certified Residential Contractor (CRC), limited to single-family and duplex homes up to 2 stories. The entry door for those starting small.
There are also Registered licenses (RG, RB, RR), valid only in the county that issued them, more limited and less advantageous. King Training prepares you for all three Certified (statewide) licenses, because the time investment is practically the same and the return is incomparably bigger.
Don't memorize. Find.
The Florida general contractor exam is open book. The secret is not memorizing 1,200 pages, it's knowing exactly where each answer lives, and getting there in under 90 seconds per question. That's what the Sniper Method teaches you.
Tabbing & Highlighting
We turn your official books into a personal search engine. Every color, every tab has purpose. When the timer hits, your hand knows where to go before your brain does.
The Index Game
Each book's index is a hidden search engine. We train your mind to think like the examiner: which keyword did they use? In which chapter does the answer live?
HP 10bII+ on autopilot
The financial calculator we teach for the exam. Button by button, formula by formula, problem by problem, until it becomes reflex.
Real timer mock exams
36 mock exams with a timer, a 70% passing score (same as the real exam), shuffled questions and a commented review per question. You train the pace before walking into the actual exam.
11 modules covering 100% of what's on the exam
From absolute zero to exam day. Each module is built to bring you one step closer to DBPR approval, no fluff, no filler.

Rafael Rossatto: the Brazilian engineer who became a Florida Contractor, and teaches you how to do the same
Civil Engineer with jobsite experience in Brazil and the United States, Rafael moved to Florida and learned firsthand what so many Brazilians face: lots of technical knowledge, lots of hands-on work, but a brick wall when it comes to getting licensed and growing as a business owner.
He passed the Florida General Contractor exam with a 90% score (Pearson VUE) and today is licensed as a Certified Building Contractor (CBC1269576), active at the DBPR (verifiable on MyFloridaLicense).
Since then, he's dedicated himself to training Brazilian immigrants who want to stop being painters, electricians, drywallers or someone else's helper, and finally take ownership of their own business as licensed contractors. He serves students in Orlando, Miami, Tampa, Jacksonville, Pompano Beach, Boca Raton, Doral, Kissimmee, Deerfield Beach and across the state via the online platform.
This course is built for you if...
You work on Florida jobsites
Painter, drywaller, electrician, carpenter, helper, foreman, supervisor, field engineer, someone who already knows construction inside out and wants to take ownership.
You're tired of building for someone else
Tired of small commissions, of not pulling permits in your own name, of watching the prime contractor take the big margin while you do the work.
You're a foreign-trained engineer or architect
You have a degree from Brazil, you know the technical side, but you didn't validate via NCEES and want a faster legal path to grow professionally in the US.
You tried studying in English and got stuck
Bought books, took American courses, watched YouTube, and realized you need to understand it in Portuguese first to answer it in English.
You're a recent immigrant or about to move
Already arrived or planning the move, and want to land with the profession in order, earning as a contractor instead of a helper.
You want to scale with method
Tired of losing money on bad courses, wrong books, failed exams. You want one clear path from start to finish, with someone who's been there.
