Laborer years count, when documented right

DBPR requires 4 years on construction sites. Years as a laborer count, as long as you can show photos, witnesses, GCs and addresses where you worked.

    The realistic step-by-step path

Phase 1: pick a specialty (drywall, framing, paint, tile). Phase 2: become a sub-foreman. Phase 3: foreman / lead. Phase 4: take the course, pass the exam, get the license.

From $40k as laborer to $300k+ as GC

A full-time laborer in FL earns $35–50k/year. Same person as a licensed GC in year 2: $250–500k. The license is the multiplier.

Your jobsite experience is already worth gold

King Training is a course taught in Portuguese that takes you from the DBPR application to Pearson VUE approval, even if you've never set foot in a college classroom.

    Frequently asked questions

Can a day laborer really become a GC?›

Yes, but you need to gradually take on more responsibility (sub, foreman) and document everything.

    How do I document day-labor work?›

Photos with dates and addresses, statements from the GCs you worked with, Zelle/Venmo records, witnesses. The course teaches you exactly how to put it together.

How long does the path take?›

From total beginner: 4–6 years. If you already have 2–3 years on jobsites: 1.5–2 years to license.

Can I work cash and still apply?›

Yes, but you need parallel proof (photos, witnesses, addresses). The course details how to assemble a DBPR-acceptable file even from cash work.
